Personal Statement
"I like to create art because it is one of the things that makes me feel more alive and present in the moment. The process of creating art, of looking carefully and calmly at the patterns of light and shadow, colour and composition in my world, of seeking the elements that create joy and magic in a painting or drawing, also create joy in my being. This joy continues even after the painting is finished. If I can bring some joy to others when they look at one of my paintings, then that is an added bonus.
My primary medium at the moment is pastel although I also have enjoyed doing some watercolours, mostly of my orchids. (I have a small hobby of growing orchids.)
Right now subject matter is both the human figure including portraits, and inspiration from travel, my garden and my orchids. My desire and passion is to just be free to choose whatever subject matter inspires me."
