For centuries, goldsmiths made chains for personal adornment in various styles. This one-day workshop offers the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques to make your own bracelets or necklaces based on traditional patterns.
Besides learning a variety of patterns, you will explore ways to make basic jump rings, how to work with various thicknesses of wire, how to make simple clasps, as well as techniques for finishing and polishing your chains. Brass, copper and nickel wire are included in course fee. Those wishing to work in silver (at additional cost), should contact the instructor prior to the workshop.
Supplies: Due to the small scale of objects, visual enhancement tools are recommended, such as a magnifying visor or magnifying glass (please bring your own). Manual dexterity and attention to detail are important skills needed in this course.
