Workshop Description: Anyone can learn to draw. Drawing is an artist's most fundamental and useful skill. It is the point of departure for most artistic pursuits. Fused Glass Jewellery

Silver Band Rings

Workshop Description: Band rings form the basis of many ring styles or simply can be worn as is by letting the precious metal speak for itself. In this one-day workshop you will create one or more band rings and explore ways to add interest by carving, shaping or adding details. Due to the small scale of objects, it is recommended you bring your own visual enhancement aids (e.g. a magnifying glass or visor.) Silver will be available at extra cost due the day of the workshop.
Casting in Silver: A 2-Day Workshop

Please Note: Due to the small scale of objects, visual enhancement tools are recommended, such as a magnifying visor or magnifying glass (please bring your own). Manual dexterity and attention to detail are important skills needed in this course.
This two-day workshop will give you an opportunity to become familiar with the lost wax casting process of making jewellery, and make your own piece of unique silver jewellery.
Lost wax casting has been used for thousands of years, and about 95% of today's jewellery is produced using this method. It involves creating wax models that are exactly replicated in metal in the finest detail. The workshop will be split over two Sundays, three weeks apart. The first session will focus on preparing the wax models by hand, involving filing, carving, drilling or melting the wax. Various techniques will be demonstrated. The second session will involve filing, sanding, finishing, and polishing the silver castings. Note: cost of the silver is in addition to the course fee, and will depend on the number and weight of piece(s) made. (As a indicator, a 'smaller' ring or pendant can be made for $25-35). Not only will you come away with a unique piece of jewellery made by yourself, but you will gain valuable insight into the process of jewellery making in general. Refreshments provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Your work will be fused and will be ready for pick up one week later. Kit includes a quality oil-filled glass cutter.

Workshop Description: Learn the skills and techniques to make your own bracelets or necklaces based on century old traditional patterns. Besides learning a variety of patterns, you will explore ways to make basic jump rings, how to work with various thicknesses of wire, how to make simple clasps, as well as techniques for finishing and polishing your chains. Brass, copper and nickel wire are included in course fee. Silver wire is available at an extra cost, to be paid the day of the workshop. Please indicate when registering.
